BH Machon Chana
Gala 30th Anniversary Dinner
Our 30th anniversary
Gala Tribute Dinner in
Manhattan was a great success. It was beautiful, elegant and most
inspiring. Three hundred alumnae and friends of Machon Chana as well as many
of our staff gathered to give tribute to the Rebbe for the gift of Machon
Chana that did so much to change the course of history and change the face of
the Jewish world in addition to the
profound impact on our lives and the lives of our families. People came from
far and near and we all truly connected in a very unique way. In
addition to a bus from Crown Heights all parts of the Metropolitan
area were represented. A group from Monsey, Manhattan, friends from
Great Neck and the Five towns joined those from all over Brooklyn. We
thank those that joined us from Pittsburgh, Boston, Los Angeles,
Chicago, Toronto, as well as Brazil, Argentina, Italy, England and
Eretz Yisroel. It was truly awesome. The Puck Building was a perfect setting for this
historic event. During the reception, women had an opportunity to meet
and reminisce and enjoy the Judaica art exhibit and the silent
auction. A video presentation of the construction of the new building
was playing on the side. The Dinner that followed was truly grand. The
program left not dry eye. Sara Chana Schreiber, our famous master of
ceremonies, was as eloquent as usual and after the Rebbe's letter
introduced Molly Resnik, who was a former
NBC Producer, and a regular at our summer program. She
set the tone for the evening with her moving story and love for Machon
Chana. Adina Edrei originally from Zimbabwe and now a mother of
two and resident of Crown Heights, told about her wonderful experience
at Machon Chana. Shachar Banin, a Shlucha in Venice, expressed
her appreciation to the Rebbe for preparing her for her awesome task
as a Shlucha. Chaya Lindsey, a mother of a student followed. The story
of her life and modern day mesiras nefesh, not only left us all
crying, but earned her a standing ovation. Last of the women was a
lovely well spoken student from Israel, Maureen Levy, who expressed a
heartfelt thanks to the staff in the name of all the students. Last
but not least was Rabbi Yosi Paltiel who as representative of the
staff and delivered a moving Dvar Torah and blessing to all those that
are connected with with this holy and awesome institution. The
program ended with a most moving video. People spoke of the event for months. It was truly a proper tribute and Kiddush Hashem.
