Program Outline

YeshivaCation is a learning program which takes place twice a year- during the winter and spring breaks. The course consists of fascinating classes, lectures and interactive workshops, and can be an all-encompassing introduction, an expansion of existing knowledge or an energizing vacation. Women who attend are from all walks of life -- college students, professionals and homemakers -- and vary in their levels of Jewish learning and observance.

The difficult and challenging times in which we are currently living call for a re-examination of who we are and where we are heading. Join us at YeshivaCation on a spiritual journey inward, to the very essence of your being, your Jewish soul.

Registration

Registering for Yeshivacation involves completing a registration form and a questionnaire. The questionnaire enables Machon Chana to design a program of study tailored to each individual students needs and requests. Please submit your registration form and questionnaire as far in advance as possible.

Curriculum

Each day of YeshivaCation features a new theme of interest to the modern intellectual woman. This theme is explored in depth in the light of Jewish law, Jewish thought, Jewish history, and Chassidic sources. Seminars are complemented by hands-on workshops. Topics are selected from a large range of relevant central themes.

The morning begins with a class in Chassidus and a prayer session. Classes are held on beginning and advanced levels. Participants also have the opportunity to develop skills in Hebrew, Chumash, Yiddish, and Prayer. The afternoons and evenings are devoted to lectures, panel discussions, workshops, and audio/visual presentations covering a variety of issues.

Shabbatons

YeshivaCation always coincides with the national Shabbaton weekend sponsored by Lubavitch Youth Organization. These Shabbatons are also open to those unable to attend the full YeshivaCation program, but who wish to join this Shabbos experience and learning opportunity.

The program includes lectures, guided prayer services, Shalosh Seudos, Melava Malka, and discussions on many of today's most compelling  topics. The Friday night meal is eaten together with local families, providing an opportunity to meet many of the interesting Crown Heights residents; other meals are held in the warm ambiance of the Machon Chana dormitory.

Accommodations/Meals

YeshivaCation guests are placed in the homes of hospitable and welcoming families in the neighborhood. Hotel accommodations are arranged upon request. Weekday lunches are provided at school and suppers are served at the dorm. Each evening seminar is followed by a light snack. Shabbos meals are equally divided between host families in the neighborhood and communal meals at the dorm, providing the participants with a varied experience.
